"The suit requests damages for the state’s “unlawful trespasses” and asks for “a declaration that Arizona’s use and occupancy of lands owned by the United States without the required permits or other authorization constitutes unlawful trespasses.”" The land belongs to the State of Arizona. Much of it is actually privately owned. This is some twisted logic on behalf of the Federal Government. They refuse to protect the border and spend tax dollars to prevent the state from doing the job they refused.
