It would be quite easy to cross the English Channel in a kayak, for an experienced kayaker. I could do it easily. I've often been on the open sea in a kayak. The sea swell is fun -- it's like a roller coaster. You'd just need to be able to paddle for five or six hours nonstop. If the sea wasn't too choppy, you could even rest. But for someone new to a kayak, it would be suicide.
