As the title states. Sometimes things are shared but the there's no need or want for silly internet points. Views and comments are well and good enough. The down vote button should remain in tact and functional though, no question.

I understand that. I'm exclusively an all/new user. You stated that stuff would get buried rather quickly without up votes in new. I provided proof that that's not the case and also asked about following/subscribing in another post.

I should have mentioned that I was talking about the general (/all) new queue (which seemed obvious, as it is the most popular endpoint), thus my previous comment.

It's obvious to the person that has access to the stats but far from with those that don't.

Idea suggestion has been answered and I'll leave it at that.
