View counts aren't enabled to prevent data-mining and point farming trolls to flood most popular posts (upvotes != views), since only a very same amount of users are actually voting.
Do you mean if view counts were displayed (in the post's psge, so you had click the post to see it)), and it was a high number (popular because the title attracted people to click), trolls would infest the comment thread in that post?
Data mining? Like approximation of user count by subverse? That's the only datamining I can think might be possible but still only a rough approximation.
I don't think I understand but I'll take your word for it. I'm no social media guru when it comes to troll psychology.
The reason the vote count isn't high is, as I said earlier, because lots of users just like to read stuff and don't really vote, but also because trolls or shills can't game votes with alts.
Even faggit used to fake the scores to confuse bots and shills.
On the other hand, voat used to have a higher score for front page posts because it wasn't moderated and shills gamed the fuck out of it. They used to brigade users they didn't like down to oblivion (where their accounts ended up unable to comment or post due to negative scp/ccp) while pushing shitposts on the frontpage.

Oh, memories! Yes, they used to try to brigade /v/GreatAwakening every few weeks. So many disgusting weird porn pics, they would wipe normal posts off the front page of /new. Crensch ended up creating a valid users list specific to GreatAwakening to keep them out IIRC. The subverse operated pretty well after that. Any idea where Crensch went? Fell off the face of the earth?
