Would make life so much easier for users. My daily is a 6s and sometimes an SE. Screens are small. Hard to tap that little player/viewer icon.

Open media from a front page? Hit that juicy thumbnail.

Open the post and comments? Hit that big header link.

Thanks.

This has been suggested before but not done for the following reasons:

there’s already an expando icon for media and because thumbs do not show when you open posts in mobile mode.

I agree with this.

I do like that about Scored.co, click thumb and image or gif opens on the page your on, no back button then finding the original link that is no where to be found after the back button or just out of sight so it saves a bunch of time.

I can't get my head around Poal post forms, it's baffling I get that it pulls the image from the site, but what if that's not the image I want to use?

selecting "image" from lower down on the form does something weird, I've no idea what that does. what does 'clipboard' do? everything I've ever posted I've deleted and redone because it's come out weird somehow, then it sits there as a deleted thread and annoys me

actually I've never even noticed that clicking on the image pulls up the comments first, I actually prefer this, I've only ever clicked the title before

Pulling a thumb or featured image from a link is usually directed by the webpage you’re linking. If the page doesn’t relay which image to use, for instance Wordpress sites have “featured image”, I’d image the grabber just takes the first image that isn’t the logo or maybe the sites logo/favicon.

Just an assumption from what I know about my own Wordpress self-hosted sites.

I guess I like some control over the layout of what I'm posting, this direct news link orientated approach just feels odd
