For me, to go left in the browser is to go backward to where you were before. Thus 'Cancel' would be on the left as you would go back without submitting your message.
Right is to move forward a page, so 'Submit' would be on the right to confirm your message and then advance to the next page.
Left goes backward, Right goes forward. Reversing them so the left button goes to the right and the right button goes to the left seems counter-intuitive to decades (at least) of established behavior and functionality and also completely illogical.
