but views are also a great piece of information.
No view counters are planned for the simple reason that it will drive people (especially karma whores and trolls) to abuse that data.
Votes are sufficient, even if tons of users are just lurking.

You don't have to worry about downvoats here. But I see what your saying. The downvoats did however keep crusaders at bay until they left. Member the poppytea faggots?
How would 'multiple views per user' be accounted? When I see the 'x new posts' flashing on some posts, I go back and re-read the thread.
I don't know how, or if, they did anything about that on Voat. But even if they do nothing about it, and they count as separate views, I'd say that it wouldn't impact the numbers that much. It doesn't need to be perfectly accurate.
Views don't and shouldn't have any effect on ranking, or if it makes it to the front page. It was just a nice metric that I looked at a lot on Voat and I'd like to see here.

It's using your browser's LocalStorage (no data is or can be collected).
The last visit for a post is stored by your browser and some js is checking if new comments have been made since your last visit. New comment counts are also pushed live with websocket when you have a tab opened on poal home and front pages (hot/new/pop/top)
