The new user's biggest complaint seems to be moving of their posts and I think if they knew where to post in the first place most problems would be alleviated and the sub communities could thrive. can this smokescreen be removed?

The only people that should have any trouble finding a category for their posts should be those who have never used a news aggregator site at all. Anyone coming from voat or reddit or the like should be at least familiar with basic categories and at least have SOME idea of where their post fits in.

The biggest complaints came from some very vocal "newcomers" that whined their posts got moved from whatever into a category. Simply dumping it into that sub instead of at least thinking "hey, could this fit into news? I wonder if there's something about science? music? etc." Very vocal complaints from people who apparently thought their posts required front and center real estate instead of being placed into a lesser known, but correct category.

I use the term newcomer lightly, it seemed like a lot of the whiners had a knowledge of the people running the site that belied their claim that they just joined the site in the last day or so.

i just want to give you an update on being scolded for posting in /v/poaldev instead of /v/ideasforpoal. its this shit that rolls the eyes. thank you for considering my post valid and not spam and that it should be filed in the proper category but it's impact on the greater landscape will be minute if not completely null.

yea but then you have to stop and make sure the sub you have thought of is active and not pozzed. /v/showerthoughts was once a thing and somehow differerd from whatever and politics but was absorbed by those two and others. I think the coming and going of subs should be seen as a more organic flow.

I Think people hate writing something for it only to get a single upvote and them not know why? was it what they wrote? or where they posted it? or a bad time of day? some feel that every post comes with a risk of the fbi coming through the door.

I will reiterate my request for a branch interface of subs when posting

There are the main subs that all new users see, chances are one of those will fit what you want to post.

You may find it difficult to get your request fulfilled. The number of new subs with no clear or overlapping intent has muddied the place up quite a bit. Everything from misspelled things to people just registering numbers and state names.

yes it does seem to sprawl sideways and i think the conversation could be much better focused if redundancies and loose ends were eliminated at the same time as promoting a new subs that wish to garner a following. but maybe there's a sub for that. maybe there's three. maybe the sub becomes pozzed and needs a emergency alternate. I feel bad for those who keep this place together. its a fine ship and a wonder to the commoner and people just come here freely and complain like the dirty migrants they are (well maybe Voat was like Australia on the world stage).

Just post in whatever and the mods will move it for you

/s/whatever is now a restricted sub because of that very thing.

Nah it'll be fine

The sub seems perfectly happy, yes. Restricted to mods only, but happy.

It is restricted because the admins have a stick up their ass and refuse to admit they're powertripping anal retentive faggots.
