5 minutes is reasonable enough.
It's impossible for me to check all the threads I post right away
Then slow down and check them before pressing submit.
Can you explain the logic behind the time limit for editing?
I'm not even admin and I can explain it. It's so you don't clickbait and switch later on when it had loads of upvotes.
Make post and move on. Remember you goofed on wording. Go back to edit. It's only been a few minutes. Edit post. Someone replies quoting you. Next day same thing but you edit after someone quotes you. Now there is a problem.
One could say why let us edit at all. Most of us are drunk or high and that wouldn't work. People would just make another post. So you have to allow edits but there must be a cap. I think 5 minutes is too long but I don't run this site so it might be perfect for all I know.
This and so many more things like this have to be taken in to account when writing software. Sometimes all you can do is compromise.
