Archive.is has an api for this.

The only issue I see here (other than server and programming time) is that some pages do not report their title correctly, especially ones that are owned by Verizon Media.

This would also have the effect of rate-limiting unless you did the archiving on your own machine beforehand.

I need to finish updating poal's API and @derram said he will port his bot on poal.

I fully support this idea. Voat had a great Archive bot. It saves a lot of time.

archive can fuck up pages

It can, but you generally get the idea of what's trying to be said. A fucked up wall of text with the original story is better than a 404.

It needs to be opt in or opt out. Sometimes you want to support the site. I know, rarely...but nevertheless while it's amazingly freaking helpful to autoarchive on sites like this, the user should be able to opt in or out with ease.

Or it could be a stickypost in each that has the archive link.
