First off: Immigrants not respecting established community norms and making a big commotion about it.

Second: One of the ideas passed around is the concept of a SPAM vote option or flag. I imagine this idea has been discussed before, maybe even as part of Poal’s current policy.

Third: Consider the idea of allowing for downvotes without repercussion, but minimizing their ability to effect sort order. This would expose DV fags and allow for unfettered ‘I disagrees’.

These are just some thoughts and ideas. Maybe they’ve already been hashed out here. Regardless, the noobs don’t know much about why Poal is the way Poal is.

I don't understand why people can't read.

Right when I signed up, there was a welcome screen that let me change a few settings, and explained clearly how down votes were viewed on the site. It was great, and I haven't had any problems.

Every noob question is answered on that page. Even the user colors and shit. I see people asking that question every day.

I think they should make that page more obtrusive and easily accessible, maybe make it a default subscription, add a big link in the banner, or something. That's a pretty simple thing that I think will have the kind of impact we want.

It might be nice to have a more accessible sitewide sticky with info/links about what Poal is And a bit of the history.
