I've gotten a few good responses about the YAN (You're a Nigger) button. Or the Star of David button. Either way, the idea would be to simply have a way to count 'downvotes' on any comment which did not change the comments rank/position and which did not impact the user's site score. It's just a way to quantify dissent that is ineffectual, but which would let people get the steam out.

I think it would be hilarious to find a comment with 50 YAN. Or 50 Jew stars.

This way, people could express disagreement generally, without really hurting anybody, and without having to muck up a thread with a bunch of unnecessary comments. In other words, we kind of all agree that to disagree with someone without making an argument, you're just gonna call them a nigger. And there will be a button for that.

Like mentioned in your other thread, we already have a plan for such button (but with a different name and behavior)

I'll discuss with @pmyb2 and see how we can get the best buttons from these ideas.

How about an "Up Arrow" and a (((Star of David)))

I'm not sure what the up arrow is meant to signify. I think simply upvoting a comment or thread is sufficient for the positive side of things, unless you're saying you'd like an icon that makes it a little more visible?

Truthfully, on the negative side, I like the idea of being able to 'downvote' something that is a little humorous, and a way that is more pointed. I'd like to be able to disagree with someone where I just call them a nigger, like "Yeah, okay nigger." But then I'd also like a way to disagree with someone where I'm saying, "Get the fuck out of here with this, Jew." These are two different kinds of disagreeing. I want to be able to call a comment a nigger comment, and also be able to call others Jew comments.

But I'm not trying to push our luck. If we could just get a downvote counter that's separate from the points in the thread/comment, I'd be happy.
