Since Poal frowns on downvotes with exception of spam, why not replace the up/down arrows with some "like" indicator with count and a Flag to mark for spam. I suggest this because people coming from other sites may find this confusing given what up/down indicates there. It might make the visuals look cleaner and you can save space. Also, you could move the flag (flag count) to a different place away from the "like" and count.

Just a suggestion, given what Poal's stance is on downvotes. Making downvotes impossible will pretty much eliminate the problem. It would also be a unique look and feel for poal and would be more intuitive.

Also could let the threshold for hiding posts or comments with downvotes be user defined in settings. Like maybe I want to hide all spam with 2+ dvs. But you don't want to hide any thing.

I disagree with that position anyway. Sometimes I want to downvote. Rarely because poal is great, but I want the ability.

If someone posted distracting porn or was very disingenuous it would not be spam, but I would down vote it.

We have banning options for legitimate "viagra here"-spam.

Not being able to downvote would make us LITERALLY LIKE FACEBOOK!!!

I personally like the idea of downvoting but if it's frowned upon it's stupid to have the option. If it's flagging for spam why not having it flagging for spam? If it's a flag for spam why is it a downvote?

There's going to be a rash of people coming from other sites and they're just going to get confused by the options presented given the site rules.

I don't care personally, but there's going to be some butthurt individuals coming.
