I have used the block feature, but it is kind of inconvenient. Being able to give tags would be an interesting feature.
What about a "grouping" function or a "list" or as you say a "label"? (whatever you like to call it) For example, this could manifest itself as a project group and everyone you want to tag could be done using this label. The other people wouldn't have to know they're on such a list or grouping. Mailing lists in email programs work this way.
Not to muddle up the idea, but you could serve both functions with this idea if implemented this way.
