Reddit and Voat have counters in the sidebar that show how many users are currently online.
I don't know whether Rabbit and Goat only count logged users or also guests. I suggest Poal to include both Poalr Bears (logged in) and Esquimaus (guests) in the counter.
I don't know how exactly they measure it, but my closest guess is the number of unique visitors during the last 5 or 15 minutes.
Online forums powered by phpBB do 15 minutes by default.
Not an urgent feature, but considerable for later. (Even Saidit.net has it.)
The ability to filter posts by flairs (or “post tags”) is more important.
