Currently not so urgent, but it could be useful for future megathreads and extended-lifespan threads.

Reddit has the sorting options “Hot” and “Controversial” for both comments and posts.

For anyone who doesn't know it yet:

  • “Hot” means posts that are both very new and much upvoted, thus currently relevant.
  • “Top” means: Most upvoted, regardless of post age (except if shorter time range selected).
  • “Controversial” means: High number of both upvotes and downvotes. Reddit shows more recent posts with that criteria.

“Controversial” means: High number of both upvotes and downvotes.

There's a reason why there's no Controversial sorting: we don't use the downvote as a "I disagree" button.

Ah yes. It's meant for spam.

But sorting comments by Hot should be considered as a feature in future, when Poal has more users and larger threads.

That's already planned. Poal will introduce new features when necessary.
