It would be good if one could search for comments within a thread.
A viable, simpler alternative is a URL parameter that manually specifies the number of comments per page (e.g. “?limit=1000”), or the number of comments loaded initially when using bottomless scrolling.
Reddit also has such an URL parameter that shows 500 comments by default (on old.reddit.com).
