It would be good if subverse moderators could set extended thread lifespans (prior to archival), such as 1 year, 2 years, and maybe indefinite.

When I was on Reddit, I have noticed that many threads that were still relevant were archived because they passed the age of six months, therefore I was unable to participate in those.

It would also be good if extended thread lifespans could be set for individual threads (i.e. megathreads).

I stop reading after that

I stop reading after that

No problem, partially understandable.

But that would just be 10 seconds of reading.

Extended lifespan posts could be very useful for subverses such as Reddit.com/r/HelpMeFind, where a post can be relevant well beyond 3 or 6 months.

Our threads close after three months, I believe. I'm not sure how many people would like to come back to a three month old discussion.

It depends on what discussion.

Some threads, especially megathreads, could still be relevant after months.

Also, it is possible that someone finds a thread via Internet search, and there is something left to say.

It should be an option set by a subverse moderator for the entire subverse default, or alternatively individually for specific posts.

Perhaps you're right. Though I suppose there are technical limitations.

I just found out that Reddit Gold Subverses (only accessible to Reddit Gold or Reddit Premium users) can have threads there that last beyond six months.

This means that it could be a resource issue.

Although Twitter tweets have an indefinite lifespan (people are still replying to just setting up my twttr (2006-03-20) (twttr.com)”.

On Wiki posts, an indefinite lifespan is practical.

Your probably right about that.

A post lifespan of longer than six months (ideally indefinite) would also be useful for subreddits/subverses that have the purpose of finding lost stuff (e.g. Reddit's /r/HelpMeFind).
