*Ear rapes* in online videos are utterly annoying. Ear rape protection software would dynamically control the volume so that ear rapes (nobody likes those!) become much quieter, and videos that have **too** quiet audio get their audio boosted. Also, if a video is too quiet, one tends to turn the volume up. But that might cause the next video (with normal volume) to blast so loud that it hurts. Such software would also prevent that.
