Whitepeoplethings
I had a pet gray squirrel for a summer/fall back when I was a kid. She was a survivor from a house fire where her mother and siblings were killed. We raised her on a bottle with store bought goats milk. Wonderful memories. We slowly reintroduced it to the wild, she built a nest in our wood pile by the back porch that fall and we continued to make sure she had ample food through the winter. That spring you could tell she had had babies ...
Many years later, after I got married I found an abandoned red squirrel baby in my shed. It didn't even have its eyes open yet, barely had any fur. My wife and I fed it on a dolls bottle with goats milk and raised it up that summer. We named him "Junior". We trained the cat NOT to attack him. After he was 60-70 days old we began transitioning him to the outdoors, he quickly found new friends and rejoined the wild.
Having a pet squirrel is an absolute blast until they grow up and nature calls.
