Very cool. If your power goes out how long can you run your home off that?
Are those Wera wrenches I see there? How do you like those? I've been looking at them for a while.
Depends. During winter I'd only run the oil heating and maybe one freezer. With that I reckon a week with no solar power to speak of.
In summer maybe 10 days, I guess.
Re. wrenches: Yes they are made by Wera. It was a buy once, cry once deal but I have no ragrets :)
There's still a few quality 'Made in Germany' products you can buy. Tools, clothing, some miscellaneous stuff. If they're available, I buy those and fuck the extra shekels.
Now get some solar panels and you can go low-power mode off-grid.
Oh there's some panels, just not enough, as far as I'm concerned. Roof solar is the last piece of the puzzle. Everything else is in place and then some.
Knipex wrenches/pliers are made in Germany and are great.
Yup. They make up 95 percent of what I have. Gedore is good too.
Wow 10 days that's amazing. I assumed that those battery banks only lasted for a matter of hours.
Only with strict conservation of power and a bit of sunshine but yes. On the other hand, it's been an investment of about $15k, not counting labor, which I all did myself.
