Yep. The largest breed of chicken lays a big egg and only 260 times a year. They eat way more food than a “regular” hen. As a novelty bird…cool. As a high producing egg layer that eats a normal amount of food, it is a terrible choice. Just throwing that out there for someone thinking: “I’ll buy some of those and get jumbo eggs”.

They go in the freezer faster than most birds. They grow pretty quick. Mine are free range, and eat lots of garden scraps. It doesn't cost very much to feed them. $30-$40 a month for 18 birds is pretty cheap.

Ok. I thought this was about egg. I made it about egg production. You turned it into meat production.

It's kinda both. I get so many eggs I feed my family, and feed the needy.
