TLDR; probably caused by high humidity and cable not rated for it, or using the wrong type of cable for the specific job.

From the post:

>This morning I woke up and headed to my bomb shelter to grab the bike pump to inflate the tyres on my children’s bikes. The handle got slightly tangled up in the fibre optic cables so I lifted up the cables to free the pump.

Fuck this zipper head. He leaves colonial chemical in a room for 3 fucking years? Moist ground? Don’t seal the pipe.

Every fiber network has loops every time it comes out of pipe. I've dug up and relocated direct buried fiber from the 80's with no issues. The fiber is in manholes filled with water. He got some shit fiber. Armored fiber is for underground so you can hit it with a shovel. Military grade fiber is a retarded term, hence my conclusion that it's shit fiber. No one who does fiber would ever say, I need Military grade fiber.

When I finally find a new property and move, I would like to hire you and your people to trench in some fiber for me. That would be awesome. Not sure I can afford you though.

Call the local Telecom, find out who they sub their work to or if you see the subs around town ask them if they want some side work. Don't ask the employees of the telecom, they are lazy, you'll want the sub or the sub of the sub.

Good advice, I'll keep it in mind.
