" GOING HOME " 1944 PRIVATE SNAFU WWII U.S. ARMY CARTOON CHUCK JONES MEL BLANC XD31622.
This cartoon "Going Home" is part of the Private Snafu series of animated shorts produced by Warner Bros. during World War II. Here, the bumbling title character returns to the USA on leave, and manages to divulge restricted information to enemy spies, which then results in the destruction of his Army unit. Made in 1944, "Going Home" was never released, possibly because its portrayal of the home front was deemed too negative by the powers that be. Like other "Snafus", this cartoon features the vocal talents of Mel Blanc and was directed by Chuck Jones. The screenwriters for the Snafu cartoons were typically uncredited, though some animation historians believe that the writer of this short was Theodor Seuss Geisel aka Dr. Seuss.
