Now I am not 100% positive I'm remembering this entirely correctly, but the guy with the gun is a cop, and the guy about to die is a piece of crap communist who had just massacred the cop's family and a bunch of other people in their little town. Of course then the media got a hold of it and played it up for shock and ignored the even more intense real story behind it just to spout "OMG WAR IS SO BAD!"
