I hate to say it, but I think this photo was staged and fake. I'm not saying that women did not do this job... I'm saying that THESE women did not. Have you ever worked a really dirty job like shoveling charcoal? I have and I can tell you that there is no way that their hands and arms are that clean if they have been doing the job for more than 30 seconds. I know it is colorized, and maybe the artist took a little artistic license... but I just don't see enough grime on their hands. They are just too clean overall.

It's definitely staged, but not forcibly fake. Maybe the photographer wanted to show clean women to lighten the dramatic situation these people were going through.
