I remember smoking as a 15 year sitting in the smoking section in the back of the airplane. Life before the surveillance state was amazing.
Friday night at the L&K for the all you can eat perch. Country music from the Seeburg wall jukebox. It's winter but the place is warm and bustling...
I wish, but that was just before my time. It would be awesome to have a smoke vending machine around again though.
Especially nostalgic for those of us who were there. Every gas station had one. Every bar. Every bowling alley. Every restaurant. Every interstate rest area. Everywhere. Very nostalgic indeed.
Haha! Back when I was a little kid and my Dad smoked, I made a game out of trying to pull a random lever after he put in his quarters. He caught on to my game pretty quick and we wound up having some pretty funny wrestling matches over him trying to stop me.
Now thats a great memory to have! Sneaky little shit.
Back in junior high when we would ride our BMX bikes all over town all day, I had a friend who would run in to a cafeteria and shovel quarters in to the machine as fast as he could before he got caught. Good times.
I can see the yellow haze coating everything, smell the musty nasty smell that smoking everywhere indoors produced.
That box should be somewhere between off-white and yellow in the places where its white for nostalgia purposes.
This looks like an upscale cigarette machine (clean, faux wood grain) vs the really grungy beige versions of the day that I remember. The machines found in gas stations were about the nastiest.
A local bar i go to occasionally (the best burger in my area after 10PM), still has one of these in there, shit is $10 a pack in the machine, fucking quarters...
I seen people shove $10 in that machine a few times I've been in there, but you can only smoke outside in the enclosed smoking area.
I remember when I was buying cartons of Marlboro Lights for $10..
I wondered if anyone had them around anymore and about what they charged. $10 only in quarters? Lol!
.75 cents a pack back in the mid-80s.
NJ restaurants/bars in the early 90s.
I haven’t seen one of those in a long time
