Quite the non sequitur. Nowhere did I or anyone make any claims on who started the war. The code of conduct for warfare for German soldiers is an historic document no less, no more. I'm sure other armies had similar codes, resulting from lessons learned during centuries of warfare. The Geneva Conventions from 1949 serve as a modern equivalent, AFAIK.

Regarding who started the second World War, that's a quite an interesting and complex subject. Let me say and quote a few things. - "History is written by the victors." This can't be repeated often enough. It is advantageous to do ones own research into these topics. Not everything we were taught in school is quite as black and white as it is made out to be. - After reviewing the sources linked below, my opinion is that WW2 was started by England and Poland by maneuvering Germany into a position where they had no choice but to use military force. (With a little help from my French :) and the US)

Why Germany Invaded Poland, John Wear January 15, 2019 https://www.unz.com/article/why-germany-invaded-poland/ https://archive.ph/y8IZP Please get familiar with the whole text because it's quite enlightening. But at least be sure to go over the sections with Polish atrocities against Germans. (CTRL-F atrocities)

Hitler was faced with a terrible dilemma. If Hitler did nothing, the Germans of Poland and Danzig would be abandoned to the cruelty and violence of a hostile Poland. If Hitler took effective action against the Poles, the British and French might declare war against Germany. Henderson feared that the Bielitz atrocity would be the final straw to prompt Hitler to invade Poland. Henderson, who strongly desired peace with Germany, deplored the failure of the British government to exercise restraint over the Polish authorities.[43] ...

The Lies About World War II, Paul Craig Roberts May 13, 2019 https://www.paulcraigroberts.org/2019/05/13/the-lies-about-world-war-ii/ https://archive.ph/jJynx

Truth is seldom welcomed. David Irving, without any doubt the best historian of the European part of World War II, learned at his great expense that challenging myths does not go unpunished. Nevertheless, Irving persevered. If you want to escape from the lies about World War II that still direct our disastrous course, you only need to study two books by David Irving: Hitler’s War and the first volume of his Churchill biography, Churchill’s War: The Struggle for Power .

Irving is the historian who spent decades tracking down diaries, survivors, and demanding release of official documents. He is the historian who found the Rommel diary and Goebbles’ diaries, the historian who gained entry into the Soviet archives, and so on. He is familiar with more actual facts about the second world war than the rest of the historians combined. The famous British military historian, Sir John Keegan, wrote in the Times Literary Supplement: “Two books stand out from the vast literature of the Second World War: Chester Wilmot’s The Struggle for Europe, published in 1952, and David Irving’s Hitler’s War.

Despite many such accolades, today Irving is demonized and has to publish his own books.

I will avoid the story of how this came to be, but, yes, you guessed it, it was the Zionists. You simply cannot say anything that alters their propagandistic picture of history. ...

Lastly, this German book I read, from author Thorsten Schulte provides a good timeline of the happenings back then. Fremdbestimmt (Externally Controlled) ISBN 978-3-9821265-0-0 https://vk.com/doc353952906_585569876 (PDF, not searchable) I especially recommend chapter 6.1, page 206: Wie England täuschte und Polen das erste Opfer wurde. (How England deceived and Poland became the first victim.) Couldn't find an English version of this, You'll have to plug it into your favorite translator. Some text from beginning of that chapter, different source: https://www.unz.com/pub/jhr__president-roosevelts-campaign-to-incite-war-in-europe/

Many years after the war, Georges Bonnet, the French Foreign Minister in 1939, confirmed Bullitt’s role as Roosevelt’s deputy in pushing his country into war. In a letter to Hamilton Fish dated 26 March 1971, Bonnet wrote: “One thing is certain is that Bullitt in 1939 did everything he could to make France enter the war.”[28] An important confirmation of the crucial role of Roosevelt and the Jews in pushing Britain into war comes from the diary of James V. Forrestal, the first U.S. Secretary of Defense. In his entry for 27 December 1945, he wrote:

Played golf today with [former Ambassador] Joe Kennedy. I asked him about his conversations with Roosevelt and [British Prime Minister] Neville Chamberlain from 1938 on. He said Chamberlain’s position in 1938 was that England had nothing with which to fight and that she could not risk going to war with Hitler. Kennedy’s view: That Hitler would have fought Russia without any later conflict with England if it had not been for [William] Bullitt’s urging on Roosevelt in the summer of 1939 that the Germans must be faced down about Poland; neither the French nor the British would have made Poland a cause of war if it had not been for the constant needling from Washington. Bullitt, he said, kept telling Roosevelt that the Germans wouldn’t fight; Kennedy that they would, and that they would overrun Europe. Chamberlain, he says, stated that America and the world Jews had forced England into the war. In his telephone conversations with Roosevelt in the summer of 1939, the President kept telling him to put some iron up Chamberlain’s backside.[29]

Hope you find the time to at least look into some of those sources. Stay curious!
