The better strategy is to figure out what is most likely true from the evidence available. It is far harder to lie about physical evidence than it is to make speculations about it.

Except that isn't what's happening at all. What is happening though is called pilpul. In this clown world, the only sane way to take information is from a position that the information is false, then you verify it on your own. Your method is to trust and continue to trust because then you ask questions. That isn't how the human mind works, eve a little bit. When a brain starts from a position of trust it isn't sent through critical thinking avenues. It's why the jew lines of "trust the science" "trust the experts" etc. exist.
