Overall bullshit. This is one of those things, like who invented the sandwich which is just silly to debate over. As soon as bread was invented people started combining it with other food. As soon as people noticed the wind can blow stuff away people have thought "gee, maybe I can make a really big thing that the wind can blow and I'll float like a bird." Some things are just silly to claim were ever "invented".
"Invented" doesn't mean "imagined." Any idiot can imagine some kind of device that would allow them to jump off a cliff and float to the ground. The genius is the guy who fucking built it and it worked.
Did DaVinci actually build a parachute? But yeah that was my point with those ancient chinese legends. Just imagining something that could be considered a parachute is not the same as inventing one.
