I couldn't find anything about where it was but I have a decent guess. A lot of the Führer's ceremonial and personal items were kept in the Brown House in Munich towards the end of the war. When the Americans invaded and looted Munich, they stole items from the Brown House like some of the Führers silverware, pistols, and possibly even the blütfahne and kept them for souvenirs. It doesn't seem like too much of a stretch to me that the sword was also stolen by someone as a souvenirs.

Another theory of mine is that items of significance got out of Europe when the jews took back over and went to base 211, but that's just speculation.

The value of anything Third Reich related is astronomical. That alone says the true popularity. I would love to have something so precious. I have a coin with their symbol etc from the late 1930s. It’s cheap but it means a lot to me.

Yeah, you should out lemmy kilmeister's (motorhead fame) own personal 'nazi' collection - there's a couple on joo-tube - the dude spent years collecting third reich memorabilia decking out his house/ flat.

A lot of artifacts like these will have to be recovered eventually. Gotta hope the enemy won't destroy them once they get cornered.

I remember as a kid, getting my hands on (lol) one of my older brothers copy of a early Playboy magazine (prob late 70's early 80's). It had a main article with foldout booklet of color photos, from some US solder (and the article i think was the son that had inherited all the items from the father) that gave his son a story about being one of the first into the Eagles nest retreat or actually maybe even the brown house now i think about it and took a whole lot of 'supposed' personal Hitler items/ souvenirs - in the photo booklet where all many of fairly legit looking things like Hitler inscribed Solid gold signet/ ruby rings,Adolf Hitler monogramed porcelain dinner plates, engraved solid silver plates, bowls etc, crystal drinking glasses blah blah , these Adolf monogrammed writing pads and gold or jewelled pens etc and this awesome looking Adolf Hitler inscribed solid gold pistol always stood out to me - it was so long ago i cant even begin to recall all the stuff the GI 'stole' but just remember thinking 'wow how fcking cool this stuff is' ...
