Classical Liberalisms in early Americana assumption was that Men strive for self determinationism as a result of each persons individualism and personal liberty. This requires a society to have a level of homogeny of objective and values, what Aristotle called "philia". When the west lost control of assimilated immigration, Classical Liberalism became obsolete and irrelevant as tyrants and despots divided people with age old ethnic rivalries to eliminate the peoples sovereignty.
Everyone should read that small bit by Aristotle.
TLDR: Even Greeks new thousands of years ago that Democracy, or any non tyrannical rule is impossible in a non-homogeneous society.
They should also read his ethics on slavery.
Inflicting liberty on everyone is an unkindness.
Even Christ doesn't denounce owning slaves but treating them well.
