The world is run by all the same people it seems though.
Probably descendants of the Medici family.
Consider: They had what, three, or four popes? Kings, emperors. They were the first "international bankers." I see no reason why they should have, in a relatively short span of time, simply have collapsed.
It seems a paltry innovation from that point of view to say "why dont we create new fronts, the rothchilds and warburgs and pretend our family lost power and relegate it to the history books."
Incidentally the same tact the soviets appeared to take: pretend to fail/collapse, come back under a new name and structure.
Fascinating, yeah, why not.
What is hard to convince people is that they are quite monolithic, tribal, enduring, dominating.
Whoever they are.
Personally I believe the devil is at the helm and these people are his pawns.

Consider how psycopathic some group would have to be to dominate the globe.
In effect they would have to be the devil.

Founders effect.
Founders effect, first I've heard it, thanks.
After seeing the Medici TV show on Netflix it made me think why would they want to glorify a european noble family? It seems odd, but despite all faults of the Medici family, they bankrolled a lot of fantastic artists and architects such as Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci and Botticelli that contributed greatly to the Renaissance. The Florence Cathedral is beautiful as well
I think the Medici family ran things superbly from what I gather. At least until the 1800s.
Yes, they were that powerful.
Its either that or the Hapsburgs.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if most of history over the last two hundred years were basically just conflicts between the Medicis and Hapsburgs, assuming the premise is correct.
I'm sure in some way families like this have used their accumulated wealth to control the modern world but even so they are less powerful than other families like the Rothschilds who controlled the royal family in the UK throughout the centuries and now in modern day
