CINCPAC. Agueably the most contentious battle was Peleliu. Rabaul was simply bypassed as too strong.
6 months after Pearl Harbor, the war in the Pacific was over after the battle of Midway. It was just a terrible, island-hopping grind of attrition that could have taken longer, but cost many, many fewer lives.
...but WW2 wasn't about might. (That was already clear.) WW2 was about ending the White man's domination of earth. Who really won? You never hear about the 60,000,000 White people that died 80 years ago. All you know about WW2 is the evil White Nazis that gassed/ buried/ dug up/ cremated/ tortured/ enslaved/ electrocuted/ the jews. I saw that B&W movie with the little girl in the red coat. How sad. Six thousand...I mean six million jews had to die in those safety camps...I mean death camps...in order for Israel to be created.
CINCPAC... my bad.
Peleliu was just another example of how the political elite wasted the lives of White men unnecessarily.
You might argue that point after Guadalcanal, when US troops fought and beat the japanese infantry. The AVG was the only military force holding the Japanese in china; the brits were on their heels. The war was far from over.
