Possible. But if you are a montheist that believes there is only one god, that that God changes his name from time to time and that he incarnates on earth from time to time (like a christian) then one could see how Krishna, the incarnation of Vishnu at the time who was at the center of the mahabarata epic (who had to talk the bad guys into fighting him and changed his form into shiva before declaring "I have become death, the destroyer of worlds") actually did destroy the world by fire.
