Looking at an old map shows that Czechoslovakia was pretty much a giant peninsula inside of Germany, much more entwined with Germany than Austria was. Austrians considered themselves to be a Germanic people. The Germans let the French be French, and a recent Poal post suggests that the French loved them for that kindness.
