I’m specifically looking for books written about WW1/WW2 and the political climate that led to war, but feel free to anything that you feel is mandatory reading from any era. Thx in advance.

1941, The Year Germany Lost the War, by Andrew Nagorski.

This is a superb insight into what led up to the war and how Germany lost it.

A Man Called Intrepid by William Stevenson gives a VERY intimate view of the main characters on the Allied side and how they interacted from the 1920's through the end of WW2 to win it.
