Agreed. Much maligned Neville Chamberlain warned of a “Gruesome Harvest” that would befell Europe if they attacked Germany. The last word of the 1947 book of that same name (Gruesome Harvest) is holocaust. But it was referring to the gruesome harvest Of European civilians Chamberlain warned of.

I’m sure there are other examples of the word “holocaust” appearing in the interim but the next time that word appears in any reference book I’ve seen is around 1969.
