When we look back and remember the fallen, I keep in my mind how absolutely contrived and meritless "The Great War" was, how horrifying the new industrialized warmaking methods had become (gas, submarine, aerial, machinegun), and how the United States should not have sent its young men to die for Wilson's mischaracterization of it as "Making the World Safe for Democracy" - was never about that.
