If this cave was inhabitable by ancient humanoids, why was this artwork not discovered by modern humans until now?
No one stumbled upon it when, say, they were hiding out during WW2?
The article states that the artwork's age is assessed by scraping some scum off of it that contains uranium and dating the uranium's decay. Is it not possible for someone to have hoaxed this?
If the photo of the cave is the one that the painting was found in, there an awful lot of foot traffic at least at the entrance of the cave. There's a well worn path leading up to and into the cave.
The chances of such a painting surviving for 45k years in a limestone cave in the tropics would be slim to none. I'd be very sceptical of its age.
