Why the fuck would an attention seeking woman like Earhart, create a fake identity and live the rest of her life anonymously? It doesn't make sense to me.

Also why would the Japs keep her prisoner in 1937, 4 years before the war started?

This is much more like "Conspiracy" than history.

Probably stupid woman reasons.

She might be embarrassed about all the little rape babies she abandoned back in Nippon. Or how she quickly put out for the same men who executed her navigator in order to save herself.

She and also American business interests would be interested in moving on. If the public knew they'd want retribution and retribution is bad for profits.

Also America was harassing and blockading Japan for a longtime before the war went hot.

I have no idea what happened but the OP sounds plausible to me.

The official history of the incident is very odd, including a communication breakdown between her plane and the ships that were supposed to be monitoring her progress, additionally she had cut off the long antenna from her plane, greatly gimping her ability to communicate.

So I suspect that something was definitely amiss, and I've also wondered why an early feminist propaganda icon was deemed more valuable to be said to be dead than openly alive.

All that said, just what am I supposed to be seeing in that aerial photo? If I stare at it hard enough, I can kinda see the outline of the plane, but what would that mean?

A few thoughts: AE was a dedicated aviatrix. So much so, I would find it hard to believe she would accept a life out of the limelight. The US, (and I'm sure others) were actively engaged in mapping the pacific. A group of officers were convinced, knew we would go to war, and wanted as much info as possible. I've never had any doubt AE was in someway working for the government. Mapping islands and atolls would have filled gaps in that eras maps. Remember, the same government that court- martial'd Adl. Kimmel after Pearl Harbor.

So the japs raped her for being a blue eyed devil?

They may as well have drawn a yellow box at any random spot, because I can't see shit in the one marked.

Why did they hide her so long after WWII?

Still doesn't explain why they keep these secrets for so long after the war. It isn't like they didn't report on other atrocities.

As we have seen, the Brits were pressured by their government to lie about new atrocities in order to prevent knowledge of the Soviet atrocities--and the Allied govenments' role in enabling them--from leaking to the people. So there are beaucoup WW2 atrocities that went unreported.

If Earhart was captured and raped, it would also go unreported as only the (alleged) rape of Chinese is news that is fit to print. It would also imply that our "Honorary Aryan" samurai pals have no taste, or they brought a bag to put over her head...from pictures, Earhart is a far sight uglier than any woman who has ever portrayed her in mass media.

I'm confused by that link. Is it saying that Vivian Bullwinkel surrendered to the Japanese, was subsequently raped, shot, and left for dead in the surf, but lived, recovered, and then decided to re-surrender to the Japanese?
