I wan't there but knew a lot of people who were. With the Chinooks gone the troops had to march inland, they did this with the exception of the Brigade of Guards who couldn't hack it at all due to bad combat training and general unfitness.

They had to be shipped around the island on some auxiliary ships at Port Pleasant, before the troops could disembark some Skyhawks caught them, sinking one ship and damaging the others, the ship that was sunk carried the Welsh Guards.

The Guards came ashore at St Carlos, tin mugs for a brew clanking away outside their bergens, making a din heard a long way away. The marines and paras took one look and wondered why the girl guides were here.

When OP Corporate was planned a senior Cavalry general was present at meeting and huffed and puffed that its a job for the Guards, tradition, thin red line, glorious history and all that, so the Guards were mobilised.

There were plenty of very well trained regiments out in Germany who could have done this, but for politics.
