From what I've seen, the average African doesn't understand their religious, economic, or political systems any more so than the average American or average person anywhere else in the advanced world. Our only advantage over the Africans in that respect is that we can still communicate in the primary trade languages of our countries to correct those situations of personal ignorance. I doubt those people even have libraries to use, let alone a robust telecom/internet infrastructure to exploit to such ends.
Also not everyone cares for politics and will happily leave political decisions and choices to others.
But Africa has an 'Issue with intellect', the libraries are regularly burnt down, The President (ex. Zuma) speaks disparagingly of 'clever blacks', black intellectuals are scorned. As regards education, the black ruling elite are Western educated and intentionally adopt Marxist ways as a means to personal power. Internet is available in the overwhelming majority of South African homes, its use is almost entirely recreational though.
All the more reason to enact border controls and placing moratoriums on refugees, immigrants, and student visas.
