This would have been a easy Axis victory if it wasnt for the Soviet champagne. Russians made better tanks and aircraft using mostly guesswork, while under German attacks, but still better then British and Muricans.

Soviets had a shit airforce at the start of the war, but their progressed a lot, and outclassed their western ally counterparts.

Its not just the Sherman who was a terrible tank, the rest were terrible too. They all had similar issues, slow speed, mediocre armor, lacking armor penetration, lacking effective range, etc.

Dont let your Murican pride blind you. The western allies only fought against Axis best at the start of the war and they lost badly. Then against the Afrika Corps and they lost again, until Afrika Corps had no more resources and were forced to retreat. Meanwhile Soviets fought against the Axis finest and managed to match them.

I used to think much of that too. It's the popular opinion but doesn't hold up to review. It wasn't a great tank but it did its job.
