Importance is relative to perspective.
Perspective is an optical illusion, you don't know what you see. You hallucinate your reality into existence, you only have an inkling that what you're hallucinating has some correspondence to actual reality.

Flat-earth is over the line you've drawn between "this has far-reaching implications" and "crazy shit. Ignore."
Know that for most people the Holocaust is over their line. Same with Blood libel, 9/11, covid conspiracy, etc.
If you want to be an advocate for the truth, you have to be smart enough to go where the evidence leads, brave enough to tell people with what you believe, and be humble enough to be willing to look crazy. Persuasion without these principles leads to spreading propaganda.
