Not in their treatment of civilians, but in the overall conduct of the war.
Months were spent in the beginning of the war without retaliation against Britain's bombing of German cities, in the hopes that the west would come to their senses. Same thing at Dunkirk, the British Army was spared in order for Britain to get the message that Germany's fight was not with her. And of course, the luxurious treatment of the jews.
All errors borne of compassion, Whites' unique capacity for empathy. If ever a second chance, empathy towards enemies should be suppressed. The Germans were accused of and punished for crimes they didn't commit. With the knowledge that crimes will inevitably be invented, all sentiments of sympathy and "fairness" should be suppressed; at that point they are self-imposed handicaps.
