Reading some Mary Beard books. She points out and paints a picture Cicero is like a tyrant, evil coup bad guy in her books. But the whole time reading I feel myself rooting for the guy instead. Couldn’t put my finger on it. Now it seems more clear.

I wonder if marry beard is a Jew or skips out the fact the society was going to shit because of Jews in her book out of ignorance or pure jewery

In reading history books that are 100, 120 years old and older, I have noticed that the reality they represent is completely different from that described in more recent books. I come to the conclusion that for 80 years only books favoring jews or those depicting the heroes of European culture in a bad light have been allowed to print. Even "The Great Gatsby" was to be called "Trimachio", like a character in an ancient play about an arrogant jew who had made a fortune with swindlers. The book would not have come out if the title had not been changed.

Seems to be a good observation. I knew history was being re-written. But on this scale is almost unbelievable. I think next books I read about history, make sure the publishing date are before the UN was created. ‘54 was it?
Be interesting to see the contrast.

That's somewhat ironic. He was one of the most conservative and conciliatory politicians of his time. He was famous for settling disputes, keeping order and above all avoiding overthrowing the status quo.

Yeah definitely. Not all books about history are created equal.

Like now, there’s different perspectives, even to how history is viewed.
