From the post:

>Cancer patients are among the growing number of sick people across the country being asked to fork over thousands of dollars for treatments they hadn't yet received. Nancy Skinner, 68, and nearly a dozen other cancer patients in Las Cruces, New Mexico, who say they were either denied care or required to pay out of pocket up front, leaving them to scramble for cash or move to another state where affordable care is more accessible.

I talked to this guy that worked in the same office building. He works for a collection agency specializing in cancer. I said that is possibly one of the most depressing things I have ever heard. He basically agreed.

Here is what I've learned. If someone in your family has cancer, pay the medical bills last! You have $50 left over this month? They can have it, but no more. You do not owe them priority treatment for their infinity dollars balance. They will still treat you. Also try to arrange a workout for any other debt. When you finally get to bankruptcy, BK judges get super irritated with creditors that will not accept half a loaf when you are already broke.
