I was exposed to so much fluoride as a kid that I have moderate dental fluorosis. I've had shit dentists (either scammers or assholes) up until recently. I went over 20 years without seeing a dentist and stopped all fluoride when I was 19 and moved out.
I only used baking soda and salt for all that time because when I was younger it was hard to find fluoride free tooth paste. I had one small cavity when I finally had my teeth cleaned. I do have a major issue but it's because I had all my mercury fillings replaced and one didn't go well. But the dentist was shocked when I told him I refuse all fluoride and didn't use 'real' toothpaste. Supposedly with the fluorosis my teeth should be a mess but they really don't seem to be.
