Panic mongering. CWD was 'discovered' 1967, and it's been around a lot longer than that. It's a prion disease in deer like Mad Cow Disease in cattle. It's cyclical.Some years are bad, some years it's statistically absent. If it could cross species to infect humans and spread to other humans by contact it would have done so by now. I don't recommend eating from a diseased deer, but you know it has happened, given the quantity of venison, elk or moose consumed every year.

I assume each state checks harvested deer for CWD like mine, right?
I believe they do.
